The Leadville 100 – Video Highlights

August 15, 2016 by Adam Farabaugh

Leadville
The Leadville 100 is a 100 mile mountain bike race that starts at 10,200 feet in Leadville, Colorado. The race is started by 1,500 riders ranging from Professional mountain bikers to World Tour road riders to the average Jane and Joe weekend warrior. The race has grown tremendously over the years which on other weekends of the summer includes a 100 mile trail run, a 50 mile race on part of the same course, and a 3 day mountain bike stage race. Just riding in the area is incredible as you are surrounded by massive mountains with snow still on them. Doing this event is one you will remember for a lifetime. Below is a video capturing a few highlights from this past weekends Leadville 100 and shows a little bit what it’s like there. The below image links to the race website if you’re interested in doing it. Make sure you sign up early though! Spots fill up quick!

Peter Sagan’s “Life is Like A Movie” Video

July 6, 2016 by Adam Farabaugh

never give up
Definitely a Rocky influence in this video but still a great take away of never give up. Peter Sagan’s hard work paid off with wearing the Yellow Jersey for the past 3 days in the Tour de France. He wanted to win big races since he was a kid and he wrote the script to his own movie, his life. Whatever it is that you want to do, be it on the bike or life in general, do it and do it they way you want to. An additional take away form this video is that with cycling you don’t have to just ride but can do other things to stay fit and get strong.

Peter Sagan *sunroot movie part. 1Život je ako film… Niekedy ťažký, inokedy sladký 😉

Life is like a movie…sometimes sweet, sometimes hard. Remember that you´re the main character in your life and you´re filming your story right now. Never give up and cheer up your life with *sunroot.

Nairo Quintana Documentary – A Rider From Humble Beginnings in Colombia

June 23, 2016 by Adam Farabaugh

nairo quintana

With the Tour de France so close, the favorites are starting to fall into the spotlight. One of the young favorites and arguably the best climber in the world is Nairo Quintana from Tunja, Colombia, the highest town in the country at 2820 meters (9250 feet). This EuroSport Documentary shows where he comes from in Colombia and just how big cycling is there. It then follows his track into racing and how he found a bit of success early and then started to get really good while still at a very young age. As one of the sports top riders he is a well respected and loved national icon in Colombia. (You know someone is a national hero when they have songs after them.) He gives hope to the people of Colombia who are seeking peace. His track is what people dream of and want to emulate. The documentary is one to watch before the Tour sets off. Knowing who the actual riders are makes for greater viewing as it’s not just people riding bikes, its individuals from all sorts of backgrounds the world over with incredible stories of how they reached the pinnacle of the sport. Let us know what you think of the documentary and how you think he will do in the Tour.

Riding Kilimanjaro: Rebecca Rusch’s Quest To The Top Of Africa For WBR

June 6, 2016 by Adam Farabaugh

riding kilimanjaro

The power of the bicycle can be immense. Immense enough to take you to the top of a 19,000 foot peak in the heart of Africa or to change the lives of people in Africa by providing them a means of transportation. Rebecca Rusch, a Red Bull Mountain Bike Professional, uses the power of the bike to make these two happen. Her goal was to raise awareness and $1 for each foot of elevation gained to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for World Bicycle Relief, a non-profit organization raising money and getting bikes to people in Africa to help mobilize them. The video below highlights her trip as well as  World Bicycle Relief and how bicycles really provide a benefit to local communities. A truly inspiring short film.

Using Cycling To Get Out Of The Routine of Life – The Thousand Year Journey: Oregon To Patagonia

May 7, 2016 by Adam Farabaugh

get out of the routine

This short video is an incredible explanation of life and a way to make it seem like a thousand years. Live to explore and find new places out of the ordinary. What better way than to do that than by bike. Jedidiah Jenkins quit his job and rode from Oregon, through South America, to Patagonia in search of this. You may not be able to do a trip quite like this but even a weekend exploration every now and again can change up the routine. And in your day to day life, change things up. Take a new route to work, check out a different coffee shop, meet some new and different people. Fit a thousand years into your lifetime. No one else can but you.

The Thousand Year Journey: Oregon To PatagoniaHe quit his job to bike from Oregon to Patagonia. Would you?

We Are Greater Than I – Motivation

August 21, 2015 by Lee Agur

In partnership with Trek Factory Racing, Samsung created a film to celebrate the domestiques of professional cycling. Those who sacrifice and suffer. Those who ride for the greater good of their team. Those who are evidence that together, we are greater than I.

This film features Trek Factory Racing Team’s super domestique Gregory Rast and team leader Fabian Cancellara.

Samsung, as well as all the domestiques on the road, strive for the same mission: Make yourself better by contributing to something greater than yourself.

We Are Greater Than I.

——————————
Forget your screaming legs, your thinning breath and exhausted body.
Shut up your doubting mind and self-centered pain.
We can’t hear any of that.
This ride isn’t about you.
It’s not about the pain you feel.
It’s about what we’re capable of.
This isn’t about you.
You’re not going to win anyway,
But together, together we might.
So go on, forget yourself.
