There were a lot of crashes at the Rio Olympics this year in the Men’s Cross Country Mountain Bike Event. You may not have seen many in the video coverage but that’s largely because they were focused on the top riders who, for the most part, managed to keep it upright. The course wasn’t overly technical but it had its share of technical bits. A bit of rain the night before added a bit of moisture to the course also to keep riders on their toes. Here is a great compilation of crashes at this years Olympics.
Can it get any more funny? This is a pretty hilarious video with Chris Froome and some other Team Sky riders. They should employ this tactic during the race too!
Horses and cyclists have a lot in common, particularly race horses; they eat a lot, they need exercised, they need groomed, the need well taken care of. Treat them the same right? This funny video from a Scottish TV ad shows you how you should treat a cyclist on the road in a different and pretty hilarious way.
You know that the majority of the things at Wal-Mart come from China and are often of second rate quality. Why ever buy from there then? Well price. Because of economies of scale and the low cost of labor, materials, and shipping America is inundated with cheap, low quality products. Bikes are no exception. In general, you get what you pay for. Professional Mountain Biker, Phil Kmetz, puts a Wal-Mart Huffy through its paces on a downhill run. Was this bike made for this? No, but putting a bike through things it doesn’t experience on a day to day basis is a great way to test something and see if it will fail over time. It essentially packs a year or more of casual riding into one run. Watch the video to see how the bike comes out of it at the end. Then let us know if you would but a Wal-Mart bike in the comments below.
Normally when you crash it’s one slip up and you’re on the ground. With some of the best bike handlers in the world, they’ll do everything they can to keep it upright even after they’re going “Oh Shit”. And the impressive thing with it is that not only is it skill but reaction since it happens so fast. The video below captures a save out of the final turn of Stage 4 of the Tour de Suise by Danny Van Poppel of Team Sky. If you want to see the final kilometers of the stage and the whole lead in and the rest of the save here’s the link. What’s your biggest save on the bike? Let us know in the comments below.
It would be something to bomb down a bobsled track in winter with it covered in ice but riding down one would be quite the ride too! This is in Saravejo, the site of the 1984 Winter Olympics.
There are a lot of ways to take your family on vacation. There are also a lot of ways to take your family biking. Perhaps the beach isn’t so out of the ordinary but a four person bike towing another few kids? That would be a site you don’t see too often.
