This is a very interesting video on how we learn and are then programmed to ride a bike. Ever here the saying “You never forget how to ride a bike?” Well in fact you can. By switching the turning direction of the handlebars, meaning turn the bars to the left to steer right and vice versa, your mind no longer can tell your body what to do to stay upright even though you know the handlebars are reversed. And then if you do learn to ride like this, your brain forgets how to ride a normal bike. Interesting how the brain works and that it can be re-programmed but in doing so essentially erases the original connections of riding a normal bike. Also, this explains why it’s so much harder for an adult to learn to ride a bike than a kid. Learn while you’re young!
