Cycling and Transportation

If you live in an urban area the best way to quickly save money is to bike to wherever you need to go. You won’t get stuck in traffic, you won’t have to pay for gas or bus fare, and you won’t have to pay for parking. Bikes take little maintenance as compared to a car and a good bike lock is usually enough to keep it safe. Many cities offer bike rentals that allow long term members to still save money as the cost of renting bikes can still be less money than a bus pass. This type of cycling will also keep you from having to go to the expense of buying a bike until you know that you enjoy cycling around town.

Gym Memberships

Cycling isn’t just for getting you from point A to point B. It is also a great way to exercise. As anyone with a gym membership can tell you, gyms are expensive. At least with an exercise routine that involves biking, you can pay a onetime fee for the bike and get several years out of that purchase before the bike wears down. The bike lasts longer the less you strain it and keep up on the little bit of maintenance the bike may require. In the long run, this will save you money on gym memberships or exercise equipment.

Vacations

People who have been cycling for a long time will know that sometimes cycling is the only thing they want to do when they have spare time. So why not make a whole vacation of it? Grab your bike and some supplies and hit a nearby wilderness trail. If this is your first time on an extended wilderness trip look into finding a tour group to join. There are wonderful cycling tours that you can take where an experienced cyclist leads you through the trails they have to offer.

Others prefer to do long bike races that can take you through many towns and cities. You’ll usually sleep in hotels along the way and get to see the countryside of many wonderful places. This is a great way to travel and cycle at the same time. And the price will certainly be better than many other kinds of vacations.

As you can see cycling saves you money in many different ways. Bicycles are low maintenance compared to cars and are a cheap, efficient, and fun way to exercise and spend your vacations. There are more ways in which cycling can save you money in many small ways that will add up over time. Challenge yourself to find as many ways as you can and enjoy the results.
