Imagine having your wheel disintegrate underneath you. Matt Crampton of Britain had that happen at Coupe de France Fenioux Piste in the Saint-Quentin-En-Yvelines Velodrome in France. A retired track racer, Martin Vinnicombe speculated that it was likely that the alloy rim de-laminated from the inner part of the wheel which was made from carbon. Regardless of reason, that would be scary, especially if out on the open road. The video below captures the disintegration toward the end of the video.
